The building Wallnerstraße 3, the Headquarter of Donau-Finanz, can look back to a very diverse and interesting history which is commonly not very well known.

The building called “Kaiserhaus” which means the house of the Emperor got it`s name from Franz Stephan of Lorraine who owned the building between 1740 and 1765.

He was the husband of the famous Habsburgian Ruler of the Austrian Monarchy, Maria Theresia.

It served both as the personal residence of Franz Stephan and as official estate for the reception of visitors to the Holy Roman Empire, whereas the nearby Hofburg served as the main building for the administration of the Habsburg Monarchy of Empress Maria Theresia.

The building was probably constructed by the famous baroque architect Johann Emanuel Fischer von Erlach in the first half of the 18th century. It represents a refurbishment and an enlargement of two buildings from the 15th century, the vaults of which can still be seen in the basement of todays building.
